This offering from Tigist Abyot is light and delicate with a lingering silky aftertaste. The first sip is full of smooth wild honey notes shifting into floral flavors. As the cup cools the honey sweetness opens up into delicate citrus and stone fruit flavors calling to mind lemon, yuzu, apricot, peach, and even a hint of wild blueberry. This coffee lingers on the palate with an aftertaste that continues to develop beautifully.

Tigist Abyot and her husband were given a small plot of land to grow coffee as a wedding gift. Recognizing the growing opportunities in coffee, they gradually expanded it to nearly 4 times the original size. While they operate the farm together, Tigist is the driving force, with her husband holding a government office job.

This coffee was sourced through Trabocca’s Operation Cherry Red, which highlights individual producers. Most coffee in Ethiopia is sold to regional washing stations, however in 2018 the government began allowing individual farmers the ability to obtain export licenses. OCR builds direct relationships with the best of these producers to increase transparency and ensures all premium payments are reaching the hands of producers.
