La Loma is vibrant and complex with notes of strawberry rhubarb pie throughout the cup. As it cools we see the fruitiness also pick up notes of yellow peaches. The vibrant notes are supported by the smooth flavors of whipped cream and vanilla custard. The aftertaste reminds us of eucalyptus turning toward wintergreen as the cup cools.
The La Loma coffee farm overlooks the Pirris River Dam in the San Carlos area of the Tarrazu region. It has been in Seylin Jimenez’s family for many years. She maintains the farm alongside her husband Alberto and their children.
Up until a few years ago they had been delivering their coffee to large mills which sold their coffee to multinational companies. Recently they began taking the best of their harvest and dry it on raised beds near their home and process them at their wet mill in order to improve quality and sustainability.
