This selection from Faiber Bolaños’ Finca La Esperanza offers a complex profile of bright berries, vibrant citrus, and delicate florals, all wrapped in a generous layer of sweetness. The berry notes first present as black currants but soften into elderberries as the cup cools. The citrus profile is sparkling and zesty, reminiscent of mandarin oranges and bergamot oil—a beautiful pairing with the delicate floral notes. As the cup cools further, it takes on a syrupy sweetness that reminds us of wildflower honey.
Faiber Bolaños is a third-generation coffee farmer and member of the small but mighty Asociación Los Naranjos producer group in San Agustín, Huila. Alongside farming, he has developed strong skills in roasting and cupping, allowing him to serve the group as their coffee buying liaison.
Our founder, Tony, has worked with the Los Naranjos group for many years, including two trips to buy directly from them. This group holds a special place in his heart, with members consistently producing some of his all-time favorite lots year after year. On his last visit, he met Faiber at his home and saw the very first round of Gesha and Pink Bourbon seedlings that would go on to produce this lot. Faiber’s coffee was one of our first releases and it is an honor to present another of his gems.
